Legalization Of Marijuana

This is a very controversial topic these days. Many people want to legalize marijuana. I will give you the facts.

What is Marijuana?

"A type of plant. Extracts of marijuana are being studied for their ability to control severe nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy and/or opioid drugs such as morphine."
From St. Jude's Children Hospital Medical Dictionary.

What does it do?
Marijuana gets you high. It's considered an illegal drug in most countries.

Ways to consume Marijuana
-Smokingdescription of the photo
Smoking marijuana produces the most immediate effects and permits the most refined control of your dosage. Usually smoked in a bong, pipe, or a joint. But in the last few years it has become more common to smoke it in a 'blunt'. Or taking the tobacco out of a cigar and inserting marijuana.
-Eatingdescription of the photo
Marijuana can be eaten. When consumed this way, it is usually baked in brownies or cookies, and sometimes made into candy, particularly with mashed dates. It takes longer to feel the effects when eaten
-Teadescription of the photo
Like other herbs, marijuana may be made into a tea. Boil the water first and pour it over the marijuana
-Inhalingdescription of the photo
Through a vaporizer you can boil the THC (The active ingredient in Marijuana) while not burning the actual leaf. Thus leaving you to inhale only the pure THC.

What are the street names of Marijuana?
Some of common street terms for marijuana include: aunt mary, boom, chronic, dope ganja, gangster, grass, hash, herb, kif, mary jane, pot, reefer, sinsemilla, skunk, and weed. And that's just a short list.

Is Marijuana Addictive?
Physically? No
Psychologically? Yes
That means that marijuana will not actually be addictive, but you will mentally crave it. You will think you need it. Yet your body doesn't.

Effects of Marijuana

Immediate Effects
-Relaxation and giddiness
-
Euphoria, paranoia and anxiety
-Increased hunger, dry mouth, and blood-shot eyes
-Memory and perceptions may be impaired

Long Term Effects
The long-term effects of marijuana use are highly debated topic in todays society. Some studies have proven marijuana smoke to be much more harmful than cigarette smoke and with pro-longed use may increase the risk of lung cancer. Another effect of marijuana use is an increased heart rate, which over a long period of use could be considered a risk.

Now for the big question

Should Mary J be legal?

In my personal opinion, marijuana is just something I would use after a long day of work or in a social situation. If somebody abuses it, no shit somebody will take it away. Some people CAN smoke weed, some people just CAN'T. Let's say there's Joe. Here's his workday routine.

Wakes up
Gets Ready
Go to Work
Come Back Home
Eat Dinner
Smoke a Joint

Alright what's wrong with that? Nothing. It's people who make it seem that marijuana is criminal. Now I'm not saying teenagers should smoke marijuana, but I will admit it helped me out during high school. Before a test it would be great help to calm me down. I actually did really good in school. And I was considered a stoner.

Now let's look at somebody who abuses marijuana. This is Franks average day.

Wakes up
Smokes a Joint
Smokes a Joint
Goes over to Girlfriends house
Smokes a Joint
etc...

You see how that's different? But that will always exist and people can't change that. There are people abusing alcohol that live in the streets. There are people over dosing on prescriptions. It's all going to happen no matter what. So what are you gonna do? Ban that too?

I think Marijuana should be legalized, but as a privilege quickly taken away from somebody that fucks up. Kind of like a drivers license, but more strict.

I absolutely agree with you.

just need to say the heading says unbiased opinion...well since you do smoke, it may only be once a day after work or w/e, but that still makes your opinion biased

i agree with you 100%. hashish for life.

Being unbiased is very hard in this situation. however you did a good job showing both sides and i agree with the drivers license comparison. Legalization should be just like alchohol over 21 and when they do it when they aren't supposed to they should be arrested/fined.

I agree with you too

I agree with everything you said. But how would people tell if you were abusing marijuana? Like how could somebody monitor that, I'm almost 23 and I smoke marijuana daily. I smoke marijuana when I start coming down on the drug. Is that abusing the drug?

This review is definitely biased. Not saying i don't agree with you, I smoke bud all day. But i admit that my opinion of marijuana is definitely biased. I love the fuck out of her and i stand up for her always, but my opinion is definitely biased. You should change the name of this to "A stoners opinion on the legalization of marijuana".

I will say that you did a great job of covering the pro's and con's of marijuana. However, in my research i have found that there is no real proof that marijuana does cause any sort of respitory problems. The only organizations who declare that smoking marijuana leads to respitory problems are government organizations like the DEA, FDA, ect. Also, the accusation that marijuana leads to memory loss or incoherency can be discarded, considering these are both opinions.

In my opinion, my biased opinion, marijuana should be legal. Not only should it be legal, it should be smoked and enjoyed by everyone. Unite the nations! World peace! Fuck off!

Someone has to have tried it in order to have an unbiased opinion.

Hard to not be biased. You try it and hate it: ur biased based on ur bad experience, u try it and like it: ur biased towards it's being legalized, uve never tried it: ur biased because don't know anything more than the descriptions of it.
But u did a great job And I agree completely

I am speaking from a health professional standpoint...and I might add, I have a personal pony as well...THC is psychologically addictive...very addictive...and although what you wrote is good, it is incomplete...the more one uses MJ, the more will be used...what I mean is that the amount will increase...At mall dose, you a re correct, minimal side effects...unfortunately, it does not stay there...Over time users do increase usage until the worst physical and psychological effect mount..you listed a few...but eventually MJ will lead to higher doses and some users will go on to use stronger drugs...I ave seen this in my practice and through friends use....it is very hard to regulate ones self .
